RCIA · R.C.I.A. Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. Adults or older teenagers who need to complete their sacraments or for people who would like to convert to Catholicism attend classes from September until after the Easter season. Candidates (a person who needs to complete their First Holy Communion and/or Confirmation) and Catechumens (a person who needs all of the Sacraments from Baptism through Confirmation) attend Mass and a class each week. If you, or someone you know, would be interested in attending the R.C.I.A. program just call the Religious Education Office to register. The class starts in the fall of each year. Watch the Church bulletin for the announcement of registration and class time and start date.
Religious Education · The Religious Education Department of Immaculate Conception Church is located at the Nepessing Street entrance of the Bishop Kelley School. Our office is open Monday - Friday from 10:00a.m. - 5:00p.m. We have staff in the office from September - May. If we are unable to take your call, please leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible. All programs of Religious Education require a nominal registration/book fee. Scholarships are available. · We offer a wide range of Religious Education needs, starting with our Pre-School Program. Children aged 3-5 years old attend class during the 9:30 Sunday mass at Immaculate Conception Church, (September - May). These youngsters learn the age appropriate basics of their faith while Mom and Dad are at Mass. · After- School Religious Education Program - Students of grades 1-8 attend evening classes on Tuesday or Wednesday night. There are two timeframes available for your scheduling choice. 4:30 - 6:00 or 6:30 - 8:00 are available for both Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Students attend every week September - May. Watch the Church bulletin for registration information. This usually takes place beginning in August. · Confirmation is completed in the 9th grade. The Confirmation classes start and conclusion depend on the date set by the Bishop's office at the Archdiocese of Detroit. A weekly Mass and class are required for preparation of this Sacrament.
